There’s no winter wonderland quite like the one you'll find in Regina! When you visit, you'll catch the holiday spirit not only through the beautiful snow-covered landscapes of the Prairies, but also the events and activities available for all to participate in. Read about two upcoming holiday-themed musical performances that will inspire the festive spirit!

HOME ALONE WITH THE REGINA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

John Hughes' beloved Christmas classic film Home Alone is one of the best and funniest holiday staples. Macaulay Culkin plays Kevin McAllister, an eight-year-old boy who is accidentally left behind when his family flies to Europe for Christmas. Things take a turn when he must defend his house from two bumbling but determined robbers in a final act that turns out to be Die Hard with kids. For many, watching Home Alone is an annual tradition – and if it isn’t, it probably should be.

Of course, the secret star of Home Alone is really the stirring soundtrack composed by none other than John Williams, who is also the composer of other iconic film scores including Jaws, Indiana Jones and Star Wars. On December 14, visit the Conexus Arts Centre in Regina to watch a screening of Home Alone with live accompaniment provided by the Regina Symphony Orchestra. Listen to a live rendition of John Williams' incredible musical score alongside a film classic.

TOM JACKSON’S HURON CAROLE

Tom Jackson is a beloved Canadian actor and activist. He has starred in North of 60, Star Trek, Law and Order and made appearances in countless TV shows. He is also an accomplished musician, and in 1987 he put together the touring “Huron Carole” show to raise money for local food banks and family service agencies. Ever since he has continued to shine a light on inequality and the marginalization of people across the country.

Combining social awareness with stunning arrangements of classic Christmas tunes, this concert tour has been featured on the CBC and is a highlight every holiday season. Watch Tom and an ensemble of superb musicians live at Casino Regina on December 12!
